There are so many things to think about when preparing your horse for show or turn out. What should be at the forefront of you mind when selecting your show outfit is the COLOUR of your horse.
Some colours will complement your horse, while others may wash out its coat. So you must be very careful at selecting colours for Showing. Judges have a dutiful eye practised to select the winning combination of horse & rider, and yours & your horses attire can play a huge role in influencing the judges decision.
So where to begin. Provided below is a colour chart of all the basic colours and which horse colour they will compliment. This is just a guide and has been developed by Blue Ribbon through years of experience. Some colours that you like may not be on the chart. Have a look at the closest tone ie. a horse that is suited to Navy blue & Hunter green will often be suited to odd colours like Olive, Apple, & periwinkle blue.
Please only use this chart as a guide, and if you really love a colour that you feel will not work well on your horse. Please contact us, as by mixing the odd colour in a combination may actually look very good. For example, a recent customer asked to have a red, black & white browband created for a Chestnut horse. As a common Browband rule of thumb, Red does not work well on chestnuts. However I played around with the colour combination and it turned out lovely.
